Robert Kerby, FRICS
Robert spent eleven
years with major contractors on challenging and varied work
ranging from health centres through gas distribution, major
public buildings and industrial plant to major highway
construction, during which time he qualified as an Associate of
the Institute of Quantity Surveyors (1979) and became ARICS in
1983. During this period he worked mainly as a project QS but
also as an estimator and site manager, and dealt with
traditional, design-and-build, management fee and civils
contracts.
In 1987 Robert moved into professional
practice, initially with Symonds in Cardiff and later with
Bucknall Austin, working on a wide spectrum of commercial
development but notably as Superintending Officer on the Patent
Office in Newport (value £16m in 1989) and in quality assurance
on the MOD (PE) Co-location project at Abbey Wood, Filton (£150m
in 1992). He became a Fellow of the Royal Institution of
Chartered Surveyors in 1992.
Robert joined
Colin Moseley Partnership in 1993 and ran the Newport office,
before moving up to Managing Director in 1995. He retains a
‘hands-on’ role in the practice as Project Manager, Employer’s
Agent, Quantity Surveyor, Tenant’s Advisor and occasionally
Expert Witness.
Recent commissions
include high quality new-build houses, a
museum extension, a private hospital, fitting out distribution
warehouses, office extensions, yard paving, fire insurance
valuations, and the evaluation and execution of commercial
dilapidations work.
